Visitors at a Seattle area park were horrified on Monday when a man ripped the head off of a Canada goose. The shocking incident took place at Green Lake Park and was captured on video.
Rebecca Wang told KOMO News:
My friend and I were walking on Green Lake and there was a big group of geese off to our right.
Wang heard a commotion and saw a man with a cane beating one of the geese. After striking the goose, the man proceeded to rip the bird’s head off and stuff it into his backpack before walking away.
Horrified onlookers called 9-1-1 to report the situation, but the police never showed up.
Wang tells the news agency that she was disappointed the police didn’t come to the park:
“There’s been all this talk about defunding SPD but if someone is using a cane as a weapon — regardless if it’s specific against animals or against people, it’s a problem and the police need to show up because he is a general threat.”
The Seattle Police Department has since filed a report.

I grew up with strict rules on how to treat animals. One rule was to leave ALL wildlife alone…….
I can’t understand why this individual thought killing a protected wild goose was “OK”…..
BTW: Preparing a duck or goose for cooking is a rather messy, complicated process. Tough enough in a fully stocked kitchen. I can’t understand how a homeless guy without a kitchen or kitchen tools can do it……
In the Seattle area, there are lots of shelters helping the homeless, including feeding them…… There was no good reason to kill this innocent, protected bird…….
