The mosquitoes in Louisiana are so thick that they are killing cattle, deer, and horses. According to KALB News, the deadly swarms have formed after the hurricane which hit the area in late August.

There are so many mosquitoes that they are literally draining the life from the animals in their path. Animals are also dropping dead from exhaustion as they continually move in an effort to escape the pests. Jeremy Hebert with LSU AgCenter in Acadia Parish commented on the mosquito explosion:

The population just exploded in the southwest part of the state.

Livestock owners are attempting to get things under control by spraying their pastures.
