A hero pup named Maggie has had an extraordinary journey since she was found roaming the streets as a stray in Long Island. The adorable stub-tailed pit-bull and Malinois mix is now a K-9 officer at the Owego Police Department in upstate New York
According to CbsNews, Maggie had been adopted from the shelter twice but returned. Her high energy didn’t fit in with the adoptive families, but she had the perfect qualifications to be a police dog.
And in steps the Southern Tier Police Canine Association, an organization that rescues shelter dogs, trains them and places them for free to police forces that cannot afford to import very expensive dogs from Europe trained specifically for police work usually costing in excess of $8,000.
Maggie’s enthusiasm and energy made her a perfect fit for the job, and now paired up with her partner, Officer Andrew Pike, the two are a perfect match.
