A Berks County, Pennsylvania, family is hailing their dog a hero after she managed to save them all from a devastating house fire before she perished from smoke inhalation. As reported by WFMZ News, the five-year-old pit bull, named Paisley, went around the house barking until everyone was able to escape.

The blaze started on Sunday morning and burned the home’s garage and several cars – responding fire fighters were able to extinguish the flames quickly.Tragically, the smoke was too much for the devoted dog who lost her life saving her family.

The family tells WFMZ:

“She’s the hero in this fire. She was a beautiful dog. She saved everybody.”
