An urgent rescue is needed for Bella; she has just been advised by the Mesquite Shelter, located in the Dallas area of Texas, that she can no longer stay.
“I had a family where I lived my whole life. I loved them and I loved it there! I had a nice house and kids to play with. Then their landlord said I couldn’t stay at that house anymore so my family brought me to this new place called a shelter.
I was just getting used to this place, and now the shelter says I have to leave by 12/7 or else!”
When Bella first arrived at the shelter, she was terrified; she would lie in her kennel and shiver in fear. Soon she began to slowly trust the kind staff and volunteers who have become her friends.
When Bella arrived at the shelter, her eye hurt because of a cornea ulcer. The shelter veterinarian has tried to treat her eye using eyedrops, and even though it seems to be improving, Bella will need to see a specialist.
“The shelter said they can’t take me to one. They said I can only go to rescue, and it seems that nobody wants me… I got scared when I went to the vet. I got scared because I had a bad experience. The people poked me and put me in a little cage so I felt like I had to defend myself. I promise I will try to do better if a rescue will try to save me and take me to an eye specialist.”
Bella loves to play with toys and adores being petted. Although strangers can be very scary for her as well as other dogs, if introduced slowly, she does quite well.
