Heartless owner? No one else would abandon a 17-year-old poodle

A rural Texas shelter sent out a plea early Monday afternoon asking for help with a 17-year-old female poodle that arrived at the shelter as an owner surrender requesting euthanasia. Rescue Dogs Rock NYC immediately answered the call and stepped up for the rescue.

“Seniors really pull at our heartstrings and Lasey has gutted us to the core,” the rescue organization posted on their Facebook page. “How can her owner do this to her, abandon Lasey when she needs them most.

Lasey is somewhere between 7 years and 19 years. She isn’t disposable garbage, she’s a living being that deserves to be cherished.

We don’t know what the outcome will be for Lasey but we are going  to give her the best days, whatever she has left.”

And really isn’t that all dogs want from their families – to be there for them, and up until that last day, last hour and last moment – to be there and to be assured they are loved.

Lasey will be administered immediate medical care as she has tumors on her body and her hind paw and little use of her hind legs.
