When the staff at the RSPCA Woodside Animal Centre found an emaciated dog abandoned at their front gate late last week, tears flowed down from their cheeks. The grey Staffordshire Bull terrier had been left tied to their metal gate.
The dog had her head pushed through the metal bars and appeared so frightened.
“She stood with her head pushed through the bars of the gate, her ears back, with these big, brown, puppy dog eyes,” the spokeswoman for the shelter wrote. “She just looked so sad and frightened, it was heartbreaking.”
Karl Marston, the RSPCA inspector is investigating what happened to the dog, now named Misty.
“This matter is being dealt with directly by RSPCA HQ as this is now a criminal case. The Staffy is being cared for at Woodside and is receiving expert care to ensure she is healthy both physically and mentally.
We would like to thank you all for your kind wishes of support during this incident. We will provide a full update on how she is doing in due course but at the moment she is not available for adoption.”
Misty had cuts on her nose and a skin condition. She has a microchip, but the information has not been updated. Anyone with information is asked to call 0300 123 8018.
