Just when you think you have seen the most disturbing videos circulated through social media via What’s App, an even worse one suddenly appears. This time it was a video of a military soldier in Guam holding a dead puppy – using it for exercise and calling it “puppy curls.”
According to KuamNews, Griffin Reid stated he had not made it to the gym and instead used the dead 30 pound pup to demonstrate his routine. Viewers have claimed Reid had been promoting animal cruelty.
“Now what you do, is you hit a dog in the street because you live in Guam and they are everywhere and the government is really bad about helping out,” Reid said while doing a ‘puppy curl’, and “ahh you get a great pump.”
After he had done several repetitions, Reid threw the dog into the jungle and flexed his arm.
The video was quickly brought to Guam Animals in Need (GAIN) who contacted law enforcement. After viewers identified Reid as the military person in the video, he went on to make a public video apologizing while explaining what he said had happened and denied he had been promoting animal cruelty.
“As I was coming home from work, I felt a little bump coming around the corner. I looked in my rear-view there was a dog…”
Reid recognized the dog that had been lying dead on the road for a few hours and went to the dog owner’s home who didn’t care about his dead pet. That’s when he said he carried the dead dog’s body down the road to the jungle and did the video. Again, Reid profusely apologized admitting it was in poor taste – “graphic and morbid” but defended his action stating he was trying to express the maltreatment of dogs and animals there.
All of the information has since been forwarded to the military authorities who are investigating.
