Grandmother dangles 7-year-old child from balcony to rescue cat

In the Sichuan city of Nanchong in China, a grandmother tied a rope around her seven-year-old grandchild and dangled him from her balcony on the fifth floor to the ledge below where her cat was stuck.

According to social media Weibo, the child was able to grab the cat, stuff it into a bag and then be hoisted back up by his grandmother and his uncle. Witnesses, who were worried for the child’s safety yelled to the woman, but she ignored them.

Social media erupted in harsh criticism. When authorities arrived, police chided the woman for her actions also. The woman later apologized for her actions and said she would never do it again.
