At the Harris County Animal Shelter in Texas, a two-year-old Labrador retriever’s life is at a grave risk of dying. The shelter is full; there are just not enough rescue organizations or adopters available.
Do not mistake all of the animal advocates trying to help – the community needs to step up and remind everyone to spay and neuter. Can you volunteer? Can you foster? These are innocent lives who deserve better than to be euthanized a few days after arrival only because there is no more room at the shelter.

551124 – 2/29 Update: GREAT NEWS! If you would like to adopt, that may still be possible. At HCAS adoption trumps rescue up until the day the rescue group agrees to pick up the animal from the shelter. (Ex: rescue hold was placed on a Monday, the rescue group tells the shelter they will pick up on Thursday. Someone could adopt Monday – Wednesday. They could not adopt on Thursday.) Please call the shelter 281-999-3191 Press 0 and ask what day the rescue plans to pick up.
If someone adopts this boy, then it gives the rescue group a chance to help another needy pet.
