In Lewisville, Texas a police dog sniffed out 595 pounds of methamphetamine in the largest drug bust of his K-9 career. On Sunday, Stryker and his human partner, Officer Pat Robey responded to a suspicious trailer parked near a major highway.
According to the Facebook page of the Lewisville Police Department, K-9Striker sniffed around the trailer and alerted Robey to the presence of narcotics.
“… Lewisville Police Department K-9 Officer Pat Robey received a call to assist another agency with an anonymous tip about a suspicious tractor trailer located near a major highway. Officer Robey deployed his K-9 partner Stryker to conduct a free air sniff of the tractor trailer and K-9 Stryker alerted to the presence of narcotics. Officer Robey offered the Lewisville Police Department as a safe location to continue the search of the tractor trailer. Officer Robey assisted in the search and officers located the methamphetamine in a hidden compartment…”
The value of the meth, found in the secret compartment was worth $1.2 million and constitutes one of the largest busts the department has ever seen.
Readers on Facebook congratulated Officer Robey and K-9 Stryker, but were certainly curious as to the reward the hero K-9 officer received.
“We understand he got quite a few extra treats, a lot of scratches and as much time as he wanted with his favorite toy,” the department responded.
