There is only one alternative that the term “urgent” could mean at the Memphis Animal Services; Berni needs help now or the future of this two-year-old mixed breed pooch will end in just a few days.
Berni’s life has not been full of love. On January 7, he was abandoned at the Shelby Farms Dog Park; his owner just turned away and left him to fend for himself. Shelter notes include:
“PLAYGROUP—
1/13I went to a playgroup with other dogs on January 13 and I was social and friendly, but sometimes I annoyed the ladies with my overtures.
1/20 Berni was friendly but socially awkward. Something about him seemed to set off the other dogs…”
Volunteers who have spent time with Berni stated he walked well on a leash, was affectionate and interested in interacting. He has lots of energy and appears to be house trained.
