On Friday, a 24-year-old man was arrested and charged with torturing and killing a dog. Vicasso Lara brutally beat and stabbed the dog before baking it in the oven.
According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office press release, deputies were called to conduct a well-being check at a home in Lehigh Acres. Vicasso Lara was present at the home and allegedly had been threatening people at the residence where Lara had reportedly also killed his dog.
Deputies found bloody footprints and a trail of blood near the rear entrance of the home.
“I’m speechless,” Sheriff Carmine Marceno stated. “This is possibly the most brutal and horrific example of animal abuse my team or I have ever seen.”
Authorities found the body of a dog in the kitchen oven – the heat had been turned up to the maximum temperature.
“The investigation revealed Lara had stabbed the dog numerous times, beaten the animal with a bludgeon, and otherwise brutalized the dog prior to having placed it in the oven.
Based on facts revealed during the investigation, Lara was arrested and charged with violation of Florida Statute 828.12(2) Torture/Inflict Pain/Serious Physical Injury/Death upon an animal.”
Lara has been booked into the Lee County Jail and is being held without bond.
