A Florida man is accused of a violent act of cruelty which left a 16-year-old dog dead in his own yard. As reported by Click Orlando, the Port Orange Police Department, the owner of the elderly rat terrier, named Buddy Boy, contacted them on Thursday morning after finding the senior dog dead in the yard.
Injuries on the dog indicated that he had not died from natural causes and the owner believes that the dog was killed during the night. An investigation led the authorities to 58-year-old Brian Batson in Holly Hill – the man was arrested for aggravated animal cruelty on Thursday afternoon.
No reason for the killing was provided. Buddy Boy’s body was taken to the Halifax Humane Society for a necropsy.
