This week, a firefighter discovered a cat trapped in a burning bush in a wildfire burning in Central Washington. On Thursday, the Yakima Humane Society posted images of the scorched cat on its Facebook page, and recounted how the cat was saved:

Late in the evening, Firefighter Andrew Patrick Wangler was checking on the Evans Fire. In a burning bush he found a cat that desperately needed help. The great team at Yakima Pet Emergency Service took the cat in & got to work saving this life.

The cat has been dubbed “Flame,” and is receiving life-saving care from the Yakima Humane Society. The firefighter who saved the cat has left a comment on the shelter’s Facebook page that the kitty was actually saved from a brush fire in Selah, off Baker Road, not the Evan Canyon Fire.

The shelter will undoubtedly provide updates to Facebook followers with Flame’s condition. Find the Facebook page at this link.
