In the Havza district of Samsun, Turkey an old man’s dogs front two paws had been broken by a neighbor after the dog allegedly chased and harmed chickens on his farm. The owner of the dog, not knowing what to do with the dog’s broken legs then cut them off and wrapped with box tape before taking the dog to a veterinarian. For days the three-year-old dog writhed in pain.
The news of the cruelty quickly spread and Haytap – Animal Rights Federation in Turkey, volunteers immediately rushed to the dog’s aid and picked her up from the owner and rushed her to an emergency facility hoping to save her life.
The dog, now named Panuk will have to undergo a series of surgeries, however stabilizing her condition has been the primary goal. She is a Golden retriever who has been bred three times and has given birth to 25 puppies in her short lifetime.
At this time Panuk’s condition is critical, but the veterinarian staff is doing everything that can be done. On a positive note, however, she has been eating and seems to have a strong desire to live.

As for the people responsible for this heinous crime, the organization writes this:
“Although we encourage the owner to complain about damaging owned property, there will be no very serious punishment under the well done son law, we want to emphasize again that there are politicians who stubbornly shut their eyes to the brutality experienced.
If you leave the criminal unpunished, nobody should complain about why the violence has come back to us.”
Panuk’s plight has made international news and will be cared for by Haytap. She will then be made available for adoption and be fostered in a home environment.
