A family’s long-haired German shepherd was put down after being found in the yard with a deceased teenage boy, who appeared to have been mauled. According to multiple sources, the 14-year-old boy was found deceased in Battle Lake, Minnesota, on Thursday afternoon.
KARE News reports that deputies with the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office responded to the residence after receiving a call from the teen’s father; deputies found a German shepherd in the yard with the boy’s body, reports Fox 9 News. The deputies reported that the dog was “very aggressive.”
The three-year-old dog was put down for “public safety” and because the family requested it to be done. The family told the deputies that the dog had been purchased from Poland six months earlier. The dog’s body will undergo a necropsy. The investigation into what happens remains ongoing.
The deceased teenager’s name has not yet been released.
