A family in Wichita, Kansas, wants answers after someone tortured their dog – burning his body and returning him to their home in a box. The dog, named Chapo, disappeared from Joslyn Hernandez’s yard on July 5. Hernandez tells KAKE News that he was scared of the fireworks – apparently running away in fear.
The family was reunited with their pet in the worst possible way. Someone left his apparently charred body in a cardboard box near their home. On July 8, Hernandez made a Facebook post about the horrific find, including pictures of her dog when he was alive, as well as how he was found. She writes:
I cannot believe how cruel some people can be. Chapo was our little family member he wasn’t just an ordinary pet he went everywhere with us did everything with us loved our kids our kids loved him and for someone to do what they did to him is unbelievable and heart breaking.
Our hearts are truly broken today and I really hope we find who did this to him because no one should torture an animal the way our baby Chapo was tortured. This needs to go viral something needs to be done because this is not okay!
The local authorities have their own theory about the situation, believing that Chapo’s body was merely decomposing, not burned. The family has created a fundraiser to collect money for a reward. Click here to learn more.
