In Pamona, California, a tiny puppy weighing less than one-pound, was surrendered by his owner just one day after he was purchased. The family’s other dog attacked the defenseless little one; it was no longer safe for the puppy to be around the larger dog, and the family was not able to afford the veterinary treatment needed to save his life.

“Last night we saw a plea for help and at 12:15 am little Kobe made it to us. His owners just got him and their big dog attacked him,” Shafali Grewal, founder of The Ranch Rescue Team posted on social media.

“They rushed him to the ER and unfortunately could not afford the $5k in treatment. The vet staff and Kobe’s owners agreed it was best to surrender him to a rescue and this morning he went to our vet.”

Kobe’s x-rays show contusions on his lung and a fracture to his front right leg. He is barely seven-weeks-old, weighs .97 pounds and is currently on pain medication pending further diagnostics and a treatment plan. At this point it is not known if he will need surgery to repair the fracture or if his leg will need to be amputated.

  1. OMG: that poor precious little treasure!!! That family was totally ignorant to get a second dog without having a “meet & greet” first at wherever they were getting the second dog…….

I do give them credit for signing the puppy over to the vet’s office…….

I hope this precious little treasure recovers ASAP and is rehomed into a loving furever family who will treat him as a beloved family member……

This precious little treasure is a twin to our Wally (blind furbaby)…….. if it’s possible to transport this little man to Seattle, he is welcome to join our puppy pack here!!!
