Family of dogs unfamiliar with human contact pulls on our heartstrings

At the Clayton County Animal Control in Ellenwood, Georgia, a family of dogs unfamiliar with human contact pulls on the heartstrings of staff and volunteers alike. The dogs arrived at the shelter on January 11, and it was originally hoped given some time – they would all decompress and come around. Sadly, that has not been the case.

“We believe out of the five, one is the mom and the other four are her pups,” the shelter posted on their Facebook page hoping to find a rescue organization to help. “As you can see from the video, this family is unfamiliar with human contact, which leads us to believe they are semi-feral.

Upon intake they allowed us to vaccinate them, but since then, there has been very limited interaction with them.”

The mother dog, along with two of the puppies, will approach the front of the their kennel for treats, but quickly retreat to the rear and rejoin the others. They look to each other for safety and security. And yes, it would be a good idea to separate them, but at the current time there are no available kennels.

“Unfortunately, due to their temperaments, the chances of them being adopted are very low and many of our rescues don’t have the resources to take on a semi-feral family,” the shelter added.
