Since May 2019, Gary has been sleeping in a kennel at the Babylon Animal Shelter in Amityville, New York. He was picked up as a stray, and although he is very sweet and likes other dogs, no one wants to adopt him. For 511 days, Gary has been waiting for a home and a forever family. Can you help?
So let’s hear more about Gary you ask? The eight-year-old, 65-pound pooch is a favorite at the shelter, is very smart and knows basic commands. Granted he is unsure of new people and it does take time for him to warm up and trust, but once he decides you are a “Gary” lover, he becomes the sweetest friend and protector you could ever find.
“Whatever amount of time it takes for Gary to get to know and trust you, the time and investment will be worth it!,” one of Gary’s advocates writes on the dog’s Facebook page.
As to the details for the perfect home, Gary prefers a family who likes to play and keep him active. Also, if it wouldn’t be too much to ask – medium to large dogs in the house are the perfect companions for him. (Not so much small dogs or cats please.)
By the way, one of Gary’s favorite volunteers at the shelter has offered to sponsor his adoption fees.
