This week, an emaciated dog was surrendered to a city animal shelter with a towel, secured by an extension cord, wrapped around her head. The shocking situation was recounted on Friday morning by the Pennsylvania SPCA, which explained:
Late on Wednesday evening, our Humane Law Enforcement team received a call about a dog that had been brought to the city shelter. The tiny blue pittie, named Agnes, had a t-shirt and towel wrapped around her head. They were secured there with an extension cord tied around her neck.
The sight was jarring.
Beneath the towel and t-shirt was a malnourished dog who still managed to wag her tail, despite her pitiful condition. The animal welfare agency writes:
In the less than 48 hours that she’s been here, Agnes has gained many fans. Every staff member who sees her first notices her body condition, followed soon by her sweet disposition.
Her finders claimed that they covered her head because she had been going after other dogs. So far, we haven’t seen that. But, along with providing her with the best medical care, our behavior team will also work with Agnes to ensure she is provided with every chance at a new life.
