Elderly dog abandoned with a note

Someone left a note with an abandoned dog who was tied to a sled. On Monday, the Wanderers’ Rest Humane Association, in Canastota, NY, explained how the Great Pyrenees was left, writing:

If anyone recognizes this dog please get in touch with us ASAP. He was left outside of our shelter at some point throughout the night tied down to the sled. The note left with him states: “Over 10 yrs old. Can no longer walk.” This is abandonment. If you can no longer care for your pet for any reason, give us a call and we can either directly help you or give you resources.

The dog has been dubbed Perry and he is receiving treatment for a bad skin infection and tick-borne infections. He is also receiving pain relief for his legs. The shelter writes:

We will know more tomorrow when other tests results come back and after x-rays are taken. We are praying that with treatment and care, he will be able to walk, as our main concern will be his quality of life.

On Tuesday, a promising update was shared with page followers:

We have another update on Perry the Pyrenees. This morning, Perry is able to stand on his own. He was able to walk a little but with help. It is still an improvement and we are beyond thrilled.

Again, thank you to everyone who has shown support or donated for this boy. We are still waiting on test results, but we are praying that he will continue to improve. ❤️

  1. Whoever abandoned this treasure has reserved spaces in the hottest part of Hell waiting for them where they will burn forever for their cruelty to their senior furbaby…….
If I was in that area, (I live in Seattle) I would foster this precious treasure in a heartbeat. He would get lots of snuggles to reassure him that the world is OK!!!
My husband and I specifically adopt older animals. Senior pets are fantastic companions and show their love every chance they have…… But sadly, I don’t think we are in the “majority” of adopters…..
Do people really think there is a long line of potential adopters for elderly furbabies???
I hope a local adopter or rescue can open their heart and home for this precious treasure!!!
It is heartbreaking to think of seniors being euthanized when they should be with their family…… to me, the worst fate is to be euthanized alone, afraid, in pain and unloved……. I am praying that St. Francis looks out for this precious treasure……

  2. THIS DARLING SWEETHEART REALLY NEEDS HELP! HE NEEDS A “SANE” OWNER–ONE THAT HAS A HEART AND BRAIN! CAN WE HELP DONATE TO HIS CARE?
