Spread the love

An elderly dog, 12 years of age, finds himself stuck at the dog pound after the death of his owner. On Monday, Houston & Harris County Animal Volunteers posted photos of the senior dog, writing:

SENIOR ALERT!‼️‼️

“Archibald” is trying to figure out why his world has been turned upside down. He was very loved and cared for by his owner, but sadly, his OWNER DIED and now he’s at the shelter.

Archibald is described as a 12 pound Yorkshire terrier. He could use the help of strangers to find a new, loving owner. Please help him out by sharing his adoption information.

If I was in that area, (I live in Seattle) I would foster this precious treasure in a heartbeat. He would get lots of snuggles to reassure him that the world is OK!!!
My husband and I specifically adopt older animals. Senior pets are fantastic companions and show their love every chance they have…… But sadly, I don’t think we are in the “majority” of adopters…..

WTF is wrong with people??? They are happy to take their deceased relative’s “valuables”, but the loyal elderly pet is dumped like trash…., Cruel & disgusting…… Their deceased relative would be absolutely horrified at the treatment of their beloved furbaby. Do they really think there is a long line of potential adopters for an elderly, medically fragile furbaby???

It is heartbreaking to think of seniors being euthanized when they should be with their family…… to me, the worst fate is to be euthanized alone, afraid, in pain and unloved…….
This shelter is a high kill shelter…… I hope local rescues can help out……. absolutely heartbreaking how an animal’s fate depends entirely on which shelter it ends up in…..
