Driver who hit antelope put injured animal in his truck and went drinking

In Gillette, Wyoming, a man faces animal cruelty charges after he struck an antelope with his vehicle, put the badly injured animal into the bed of his pickup truck and then went to a bar for drinks. David Lass, 36, was arrested on Saturday for felony animal cruelty and leaving the scene of an accident.

According to the Gillette News Record, Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy Harold Vassar stated Lass and another man had struck the antelope and “knowingly allowed it to suffer.” When the men reached the bar, they left the antelope in the back of the pickup. Police were summoned, and Lass told them he wanted to kill the animal and “grab a boulder and finish the antelope off.”

The animal had been left to suffer in the back of the truck for an hour. The Gillette Police Department

Lass is currently in the county’s 24/7 sobriety program and was arrested for the violation. Wy0ming Game and Fish will be charging Lass for taking a trophy animal without a license.
