Dozens of dogs and two horses have been rescued from a suspected puppy mill operation in Spokane County, Washington. According to KHQ News, the Spokane County Regional Animal Protection (SCRAPS) shelter has taken in 35 dogs (33 adults and two puppies), as well as two horses, from the suspected breeding operation which is described as having “deplorable” conditions.

On April 18, the animal welfare agency thanked the participating animal protection officers, writing:

PUPPY MILL BUST!

We are so proud of our Animal Protection Officers! (Special shout out to Officers Adams, Proszek, and Calia, who led this investigation and seizure!)

It took 34 hours to remove all of the animals from the homeowner’s property. The owner of the animals (as of yet un-named) is facing multiple charges including animal cruelty, transporting of confining animals in an unsafe manner and operating an illegal commercial kennel.
