Meet Matilda; her face and her story went viral because she sat at an Alabama shelter and desperately needed immediate help. Sadly, her face and her posture told the heartbreaking story of an unwanted dog, most likely never loved.
On Friday, Rescue Dogs Rock NYC came to Matilda’s rescue.
“She did not even seem to deserve the most basic care. Look at her nails, her eyes, her tail. We can see she’s had litters of puppies & can’t help but wonder what happened to them. Were they sold, killed? Was she punished for having them? We will never know the answers to these…,” the rescue organization posted on their social media page.
Matilda has suffered abuse and neglect for years. She barely lifts her head and has little confidence in the humans – even the ones who want to help her.
“Matilda breaks our hearts. Why have a dog if t his is how you are going to treat them? She is sad and broken and she is a senior. We deserved SO much better than what she got. We are heartbroken and angry…”
Matilda is on her way to the organization’s Georgia veterinarian hospital.
