In Concord, California, a heartless dognapper wearing a mask and hood stole a nurse’s puppy who had been working at a nearby hospital treating patients for Covid-19. The 11-week-old puppy named Max was grabbed by the culprit – moments later he pedaled away on his bicycle.

According to the Concord Police Department, the dog thief was caught on surveillance video stealing the Malinois puppy. His owner, Shaila Sheikh is heartbroken, and her young children were devastated by the loss of their newest member of the family. Max had been a birthday present for her son after the family recently moved to their new home.

Sheikh is an emergency room nurse who had been at work when the puppy was stolen from his kennel. Even though the puppy had only been with the family for two weeks, he brought comfort to Shaila and her family at such a stressful time.

Meanwhile the neighborhood and friends are helping to raise reward money for the safe return of Max.

There have been no major leads in the search for the puppy. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police. Help bring Max home. If you see something, say something.

  1. sorry dear pet rescue team, but what has an 11 week old puppy to do in a kennel outside the house??? This puppy is still a baby and needs someone to care for him. It should be inside the house with its human family. This doggy probably cried the whole day through from loneliness and boredom.
And, excuse me, to add this: If people keep a dog (puppy or adult) in a kennel outside the house or in their garden the whole day, while they are at work, and the dog is up to itself, then those people should not own a (living) dog but a soft toy… !
