A Florida woman was arrested and is facing charges following the discovery of a dog, with open wounds, in a “sauna-like” room covered in waste. As reported by TC Palm, the dog was found in an apartment occupied by 35-year-old Alexis Ritter.

A deputy stated that the injured dog was located in a room “like a sauna,” with no ventilation, food or water. The male hound mix was found inside of a crate and had open “bleeding wounds” on his body. Deputy Eric Brashears said, “The vest had grown into the skin of the upper torso of the dog and went all the way around from the back to the chest.”

Ritter claimed that she took the dog outside daily. The dog required veterinary care. Ritter was arrested for felony cruelty to animals and booked into the Indian River County Jail.
