A ten-year veteran dog walker was caught on video slamming a Golden retriever puppy to the ground at Runyon Canyon on Thursday.

Check out the video here:

The six-second video shows the dog walker, Kara Brownlee hitting a young puppy. According to KtlaNews, however there is more to the story.

“He was on his hind legs and pulling me and pulling me and pulling me and I had  close grip to the collar, and my goal was to do a quick pop down into a down,” Brownlee stated.

“Now I notice in the video, he was kind of to the side so when I did a pop, it flipped him.”

After that momentary incident, Brownlee said the dog was fine and acted normally.

Since the video went viral on social media, Brownlee has been getting hate mail, death threats and not so nice messages; she wants everyone to know she loves dogs and the ones she cares for daily. The owner of the Golden has since fired her after seven years of working with her.

Brownlee admits it was an overcorrection, but in no way was she trying to hurt the pup.

SO GRATEFUL PEOPLE ARE WATCHING! SOMETIMES OVERCORRECTIONS CAN BE HARMFUL AND EVEN FATAL! ALSO, I AM NO EXPERT, BUT IT SEEMS THERE MAY BE TOO MANY DOGS TO WALK AT ONE TIME!
