A dog, chained to a cinder block and thrown into the Erie Canal, was rescued nearly two weeks ago by a good Samaritan. According to multiple sources, the dog, described as a white pit bull mix, was rescued on the morning of September 15 after a 66-year-old man saw him in the area of Day Road Bridge.

Someone had tied the dog’s leash to a cinder block and thrown him into the water. The rescued dog taken to a veterinarian to be scanned for a microchip before being turned over to the Town of Lockport dog control officer.

According to WKBW News, a suspect was seen with the dog shortly before the dog was found in the water. The suspect is described as a black male who was in a brown or gray car.
