In the Maywood section of Los Angeles, a little dog was found around midnight on Tuesday wrapped in a scarf and left to die on the street. No one has any idea how long the dog had been out there.
“…as you can see, it is a very busy street! I would like to think people just did not walk by her and do nothing,” Toby Wisneski, founder of Leave No Paws Behind posted on social media along with the video.
“Mellie’s ribs are very tender so perhaps people poked or kicked her to see if she was alive. I cannot even fathom what she went through and the terror she felt HOWEVER those days are a thing of the past.”

Fortunately, a Good Samaritan stopped, tried to get the dog to an emergency veterinarian, however the wait was five hours; the woman instead took the dog home and animal advocate Cathi Perez picked her up and brought her to the clinic.
“Found Dog” flyers have been posted as well as Pawboost and notifications have been sent to the local shelters should someone be searching for Mellie.
“Mellie does have mammary masses, needs to be spayed and has horrible teeth however after all the trauma she has had we are going to let her decompress for a week or two before surgery.”
“…now that her blood work results are good, we will sedate her to take a closer look inside her mouth, perhaps the problem lies there, we are just baffled as to what could be going on and feel so helpless. We are not giving up sweet girl, hang on because we promise you, it only gets better from here. Sweet dreams little one, sweet dreams, your safe now.”
Mellie has been up and about- seems she has made some new canine pals at her foster home.
