In Port St. Lucie, Florida, the dog that led a dispute and consequently the shooting of a father and his 11-year-old daughter has been killed. Roxi, the female bull mastiff, was humanely euthanized Wednesday morning after the legal owner, Mrs. Delserro, surrendered the dog because she was leaving town.
According to Channel 12 News, the feud between Ronald Delserro, 82, and his neighbors started back in March when their dogs got into a fight when Roxi had been off leash. While breaking up the skirmish, the two owners were bitten and had to have medical attention.
At the time, Roxi had to be quarantined at home and an investigation would later determine if she was to be classified as a dangerous dog. Meanwhile she was to be properly restrained at all times when outside of the owner’s home. The court decided Roxi was to be classified as a dangerous dog.
On Monday, Delserro broke into the home of his neighbor, Guy Alexander Hansman with his two guns and opened fire. Six people had been in the home when Delserro started shooting and four family members managed to escape. Guy Hansman and his 11-year-old daughter, Harper were shot and killed.
Port St. Lucie officers arrived and entered into a shootout with Delserro. One officer suffered a bullet wound to his arm and chest, but was protected by his bulletproof vest. The SWAT team found Delserro dead in a second story bedroom, but it is not known if he committed suicide.

WOW, and I thought our garage rock band neighbor of 26 years ago who liked practicing between 2am & 5am was the neighbor from Hell…….
This man was “pure evil” to kill his neighbors……. they simply wanted to enjoy their dog in their own yard without being attacked and bitten by his dog…… really, the nerve of some people; expecting to enjoy their own yards……..
My experience with Mastiffs is that they are bigger couch potatoes than Great Danes….. You have to train dogs to be mean to people…. No idea what this neighbor did to Roxy to make her mean, but whatever it was, it worked…..
TBH, both the neighbors were terrible about following the directives re: “dangerous dogs”. They had every chance in the world to keep their dog. All they had to do was follow the rules…..
I hope the surviving Hansman family members are able to get grief counseling for their horrible losses…….
The killings were not their fault. Their evil neighbor who couldn’t accept blame for not following the “dangerous dogs” rules was at fault for the loss of his dog and the shootings…….
Roxy was also a victim. She was trained to be mean, not properly controlled, and paid the ultimate price (euthanasia) for her owners’ inabilities to follow rules…….
All around a tragic situation……. no one was a “winner” in this situation…….
