A dog was seriously injured by rubber bands that were left on his snout for an undetermined amount of time. The rubber bands caused so much damage that the dog required a lengthy surgery to get them removed. On Tuesday, St. Francis Community Animal Rescue & Education, in southern Illinois, wrote:

After 2½ HOURS in surgery those godawful Rubberbands are part of his history. From here on we are all going to love him so hard he will eventually forget those monsters and those ghastly Rubberbands!

A prior post outlined the excruciating pain the dog endured:

In all likelihood this angel of a dog has been in EXCRUCIATING pain for over a WEEK!
Those dreadful Rubberbands cut off his circulation!
Those nasty Rubberbands cut deeply into his skin!
Those vile Rubberbands cut him to the BONE!
Those disgusting Rubberbands cut through every type of tissue!
But, those ghastly Rubberbands did not cut this little guy’s sweet & gentle demeanor! Throughout his entire ordeal, this sweet angel never once growled or offered to bite.

According to KFVS News, the Carbondale Police Department is investigating the situation and the identity of the dog’s owner is known, but the name has not been publicly released.
