Muhammad Yoges Balaraman, 35, pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary pain or suffering to his dog under Section 29(1)(e) of the Animal Welfare Act. Kuala Langat police chief Azizan Tukiman stated Yoges had been receiving treatment for mental health issues for the past three years.
Balaraman has been fined $9,000 and since he is unemployed and not able to pay the fine, he will serve one year in prison. The dog has recovered and is expected to be made available for adoption.
