On Friday morning, the Dogma Animal Rescue came out of the “sheltering-in-place” protocol for a desperate request to help a young shepherd with severe trauma. The volunteer based non-profit that mainly serves Sonoma, Napa, San Francisco and Marin Counties had been notified by a Good Samaritan who found the suffering dog whimpering in a nearby orange tree orchard.

“What was discovered is sad beyond belief,” the organization posted on social media, along with photos of a dog lying in a pool of blood. ” A young Shepherd mix, suffering from severe trauma and lying in a pool of his own blood. Thank goodness Sabrina came across this pup when she did because he wouldn’t have survived for long in those conditions.”

No one knows the extent of the dog’s injuries, however he has been rushed to a veterinarian. The dog is swollen, covered in blood, and his abdomen and back legs have taken the brunt of the force from whatever happened.

The dog’s prognosis is unknown, however plans are being formulated to fly the dog to Santa Rosa where he can be assessed by the organization’s veterinarian partner.

All current social distancing rules will be observed, and the least amount of people will be tending to the dog to limit anyone’s exposure to Covid-19.
