A dog in Texas is permanently paralyzed after someone shot him. The dog, dubbed Bam, was found by a resident in San Angelo and he is now in the care of CONCHO Valley Paws, who detailed the dog’s injuries:
Bam has been shot in the back with a .22 Caliber piercing his spine. His prognosis is questionable but we want to give him a chance. If he can have quality of life, we want to fight for him. He’s a sweet dog that deserves a chance.
On Sept. 5, the animal welfare agency updated Facebook followers on Bam’s condition:
Bam has been saved! And he is so sweet! Unfortunately, Bam will likely never have the use of his hind legs again. However, his internal organs are functioning on their own. This is good news that means, with some help, he will have quality of life.
Adding:
Bam has been released into foster care and we will post updated photos as we get them. Bam will require belly bands (he is struggling with incontinence as he heals), a drag bag and a wheelchair in his future.
Finding the shooter
The rescue group has alerted the local authorities and is hopeful that someone will contact the police and/or animal control with a tip to break the case. The rescue writes:
If you know anything about this dog or his injury, please contact us or animal control. We would love to see charges brought against the person that shot this sweet, little boy.
