At his home in Manor Lakes, Melbourne, a dog narrowly escaped serious injury after strong winds blew debris across the backyard during a violent thunderstorm on Wednesday.

According to the Daily Mail, the dog that had been lying in the yard suddenly became anxious and ran to the side of the house. Just moments later, winds swirled around the yard, and the dog’s kennel as well as chairs violently slammed against the fence. Winds registered at 70 mph. A trampoline next door was spotted hurling out of sight.

The storm brought hail and flash-flooding and may have brought some temporary relief from the bush fire areas, however easterly winds are likely to bring haze and unsatisfactory air quality to central Victoria.

Lucky puppy!
