A dog somehow found herself stranded high above the Mississippi River, on the structure of the Natchez–Vidalia Bridge. Fortunately, a bridge inspector spotted the dog and quickly went into rescue mode.

As reported by CNN, Ryan Nataluk was inspecting the bridge on Sunday when he spotted something unusual. The dog was so out of place that Nataluk first believed that she was a raccoon – but a closer look revealed that he was indeed looking at a stranded dog.

Nataluk enjoys adventurous outings with his own dog, and even has experience creating harnesses for mountain climbing – his skill set was exactly what this dog needed. Nataluk said, “I’ve had to bring my own dog across rivers and even haul him up peaks and overtime I’ve figured out how to make makeshift harnesses.”

Nataluk reached out to the Natchez Police Department for assistance, and then went to work to secure the dog. Nataluk fashioned a makeshift harness, and with the help of Officer John Fenly, the dog was lifted up to the road. Though there were initial fears that she may have been injured, those were quickly put to rest with her happily wagging tail.

In short order, the lucky pup was adopted. Great job rescuers!
