Desperate plea on behalf of ailing dog urgently in need of veterinary care at shelter

Less than 24 hours ago, a desperate plea was issued on behalf of an ailing dog who is urgently in need of veterinary care. The OPCA Shelter Network Alliance posted information about a seven-year-old dog named Mimi, who is sheltered in Van Nuys, California. The group writes:

Mimi has x rays from ACCESS SPECIALITY VET, Woodland Hills. The shelter vet said that Mimi needs either ortho surgery with FHO surgery or a leg amputation.

And included extensive notes from the East Valley Animal Care and Control Center:

Medical Condition: Please good sam, or rescue once available! Medical issues: 1) R transverse femoral fracture, severely displaced 2) Suspected lytic lesion assoc w/ R femoral head w/ osteophytosis per ER vet rads review (rads not available for review in shelter to confirm this finding) 3) Otitis externa AU 4) Senior pet 5) Moderate to severe dental disease 6) Generalized scaling, and thin, rough coat – R/O allergic skin disease vs hypothyroid vs other Follow up with vet within 24 hours of shelter exit for continued care of femoral fracture, ear infections, and overall senior pet health issues. Pt will need fracture repair or may require amputation. Rec orthopedic specialist evaluation to determine best tx plan.
