In a video that surfaced over the weekend, three teenagers in Singapore videoed themselves playing foosball; hitting the ball around with frogs on the table trying to avoid being hit. The incident was said to have occurred on Christmas Eve at a small party at one of the teen’s home.
According to NewPaper, the unidentified teens showed themselves removing at least a dozen frogs out of a Burberry shoe box with the words “Merry Christmas” running along the top of the clip. The scene moves to the foosball table as the teens try to hit the frogs and another banner appears “Thanks for the 100 frogs” in the next clip. A third clip was labeled “last frog.”
One of the videos shows one of the teens carefully placing the ball on the table aiming it directly at the frog, and when released the ball struck the amphibian onto the side of the table before it hopped away.
There were 17 frogs that were meant to be fed to fish, however the teens claimed the frogs were all released and denied any claims of animal cruelty.
Authorities believe there were two teenage boys and one girl involved; an investigation is now underway. The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals executive director Jaipal Sigh Gill is also investigating and contends that the incident is a clear case of animal cruelty.
Social media readers have expressed their outrage and are calling for the youths to be punished. It has also been alleged one of the teens involved is currently under investigation for trespassing into the white rhino enclosure at the Singapore Zoo.
On December 17, the teen posted a video on TikTok showing him doing backflips in the rhino enclosure and then jumping out back onto the visitors’ path.
