Someone abandoned a dirty crate, holding a mother dog and her puppies, in the woods of Nassau County, Florida, during extreme heat. As reported by First Coast News, the family of dogs was rescued and now officials are hoping to find out who is responsible for the abandonment.
Nassau County Animal Services tells the news agency that a man made the discovery along Griffin Road in Callahan while he was driving to work. He rescued the abandoned dogs and transported them to the shelter for care. Cassandra Kozerski, senior kennel attendant for the facility tells the news agency:
If we are able to find the person that did it, they will definitely get a citation for abandonment and possibly a charge of animal cruelty because they were in a crate, and it was so hot out.
The dog and puppies will all be altered and then put up for adoption later this week.
