In Tarrant County, Alabama, a convicted murderer is back in jail after allegedly dragging a young German shepherd to his death on Thursday. The dog had been on a two-foot nylon leash attached to the truck’s trailer hitch.

According to Al.com Luther Grubbs Jr., 66, gave no reason why he dragged the dog. Witnesses called the Tarrant Police who told officers they had seen Grubbs drag the dog and followed him to a gas station. They confronted Grubbs who then grabbed the dog and threw it into the bed of the truck.

Grubbs was released from prison in 2015 after serving 30 years for murder. He remains in jail in lieu of  $45,000 bond and has been charged with aggravated animal cruelty.

Sadly, the dog did not survive.

Rest in peace sweet dog.
