In Texas, a young boy has been lauded as a hero after he refused to give up on helping an ailing street dog, even as hundreds of people turned away. Rescue Every Dog, a non-profit rescue organization reached out to help.

Bella’s heartbreaking story began here:

“…It is clear young Bella has been suffering for most of her life and every step, every move caused her unimaginable pain from the infection and skin issues that are slowly draining her life. I can only imagine the hundreds of people who looked away from her and were repulsed rather than inspired to help her,” the organization posted on their Facebook page.

Although one does not often see a child saving a severely neglected dog, a young boy refused to let the stray suffer or die alone. And as obvious as in pain the poor dog endured, never did she show any aggression; “just help me,” she seemed to have been asking the youngster.

“Meet Bella and the young hero who refused to give up on helping her despite the odds he faced to save her. He and his loving mother reached out to RED’s rescue team and asked for help saving her. RED is asking you to join us in showing this young rescuer that people care and his belief in miracles is real and a new life for the dog he named Bella can come true. Let us join together to save and support two hearts with one rescue. A young boy whose heart is true and Bella’s who has shown nothing but kindness even while lost in physical pain.”

Bella’s condition is serious and includes long but treatable ailments including mange and a secondary skin infection due to lack of care and treatment. Her vetting, which includes spay, EC treatments, vaccines, food, support, testing, skin care and treatment, dips, oral medication and transport is expected to cost nearly $2,000.

We will be checking back on Bella. Stop by the Rescue Every Dog’s Facebook page and thank this young hero for his huge heart, his bravery and his willingness to fight for those who cannot speak.
