Cat shot with arrow in heinous cruelty survives surgery

In Kershaw County, South Carolina, Charlie the cat was shot through the chest in an egregious act of animal cruelty on Wednesday. Animal Control found the stray cat and immediately contacted Rescue Dogs Rock NYC for help.

“Sometimes in rescue you see things you wish you could ‘un-see’, things so horrible that you know they will stay with you forever, things that cause a visceral reaction. This is one of those things. These photos make us physically ill.”

“We just received the plea for help & are rushing Charlie to our vet now for urgent care,” posted Jackie O’Sullivan, co-founder of the non-profit rescue organization.

Late last evening, Charlie went through surgery. The arrow was removed, and his maggot infested wounds cleaned away suggesting the cat suffered for days with the arrow piercing through his body. The bones on one of his front legs have been shattered.

Currently  Charlie is resting comfortably and is being administered antibiotics and pain medication.

The arrow is now in the possession of authorities to be used as part of the ongoing investigation.

More updates to follow.
