Officials in Missouri are seeking answers after the discovery of a caged puppy, abandoned along a rural road in Kennett. On Tuesday morning, the Kennett Humane Department reached out to the public about the disturbing abandonment:
On Sunday KHD was contacted about an abandoned puppy on County Rd 405. The puppy was left on the side of the road with a dog crate and blanket. KHD was provided photo’s. Before KHD could respond to the female caller, a man found the puppy and brought the puppy and crate to the police department.
Had nobody spotted the abandoned pup, she likely would have died. The Humane Department writes of the secluded area she was found in:
This is a remote gravel road with no houses or shelter close. This area is fields and fence rows, known for coyotes! Abandonment of an animal is a crime in Missouri.
