In the Indian city of Noida, a five-month-old puppy called Buddy had been beaten and thrashed with a belt by his owner repeatedly. The cruelty was caught on video on Wednesday from a neighbor’s balcony, and the outrage from animal advocates on social media went viral.
According to OpIndia, the Labrador retriever’s owner, Rishabh Mehra, was seen beating the puppy with a belt as the defenseless pup cried out in pain and utter fear. Multiple videos were shared on Twitter by Sukriti Chauhan with the following description of the disturbing situation:
“This is a video from sector 100 noids and the sounds you are hearing is of a five month old Labrador puppy that has been beaten with a belt – his thighs are broken and severe injuries on intestinal and genital areas. We need ur help – please share widely @TichaChadha@PetaIndia.”

A neighbor was able to rescue Buddy within the hour after having had an argument with the owner in front of police who were summoned to the scene. When rescued, the puppy was shivering in fear and pain and was immediately sent to a veterinarian hospital for emergency treatment where he was diagnosed with broken hips and severe injuries.
Buddy will require major surgery and is under the care of NGO People for Animals.
