A 12-year-old boy and his dog have perished in a devastating wildfire in Oregon. The boy, identified as Wyatt Tofte, was found with his dog near near Lyons, Oregon. Social media posts to help find Tofte and his dog were circulating before the tragic discovery was made.

Wyatt Tofte. 12 year old white boy with blond or light brown hair.
Dog: Duke. Big brown flop eared dog with black mask.
Last Seen: North Fork Rd, Lyons, Oregon

As reported by Q13 News, the boy’s grandmother, Peggy Mosso, also perished in the blaze, and his mother, Angela Mosso, sustained critical injuries. On Thursday, Peggy’s son, Lonnie, confirmed the deaths on Facebook, writing:

The Lions Head fire took the life of many people today including my mom Peggy Mosso and nephew Wyatt Tofte. It also left my sister seriously burned and in Legacy ICU.
Don’t take anything in life for granted and make the best of everyday.

Wyatt was the great-grandson of Roger Tofte, who owns The Enchanted Forest, a popular Oregon theme park. The Enchanted Forest utilized social media to alert concerned followers of the tragic losses:

We are devastated to confirm that Wyatt Tofte has not survived. He was found a short while ago. Wyatt was Roger’s great-grandson and is loved and adored by all of his family and friends. His grandmother, Peggy Mosso, was also taken. She was also a loved and important member of our extended family. We ask for privacy and love right now.

On Thursday, the update for the Lionshead fire indicates that the blaze continues to grow:

The Lionshead fire continues to actively grow on the west side of the crest of the cascades, expanding both to the north and the south. The western edge of the fire has joined with the Beachie Creek Fire near Detroit Lake.

  1. May they all rest in peace, I don’t know why these things are happening, but I pray for everyone involved on the West side of the country. Such a tragedy!
