A Black Lives Matter protester is facing a charge of assault, and more, after attacking a man who was walking his dog at Central Park West and W. 67th St., in New York, New York, in late October. As reported by the New York Daily News, 25-year-old Desmond Marrero is also charged with aggravated harassment, and attempted robbery, for the Oct. 24 incident which left the dog walker with bruises and “pain to his legs.”
According to the news agency, the 57-year-old man walking his dog encountered BLM protestors who were chanting “Whose streets? Our streets!” The man walking his dog, who is white, picked up a traffic safety cone and screamed, “No Afro supremacy!” One of the protesters proceeded to punch the dog walker in the face, and another slammed him to the ground. A third person attempted to steal the man’s phone, but was unsuccessful.
The dog walker was able to record what was happening and turned the footage over to the police, which led to the charges against Marrero. The other two BLM protesters involved in the attack have not been located.
The dog with the man who was attack suffered injuries to a paw.
