An adorable four-month-old puppy in Shepton Mallet, Somerset has become a “guide dog” for his senior golden retriever companion. In January, 11-year-old Tao lost his eyesight totally to glaucoma. Melanie Jackson , Tao’s owner, stated her dog was diagnosed with glaucoma because of his irregular drainage angle unable to drain away the fluid.
“It all happened so fast as he was fine in the morning but on the evening he was shaking his head which suggested he is in pain,” stated the owner on Daily Mail. “Five hours later, he was blind and his eye was removed!”
According to Tao Winky’s Facebook page, the puppy named Oko was introduced to Tao when he was eight-weeks-old and have formed a bond and have even enjoyed playing with each other.
And even though Tao was fine with being blind and actually starting walking up and down the stairs just a few days after his operation, Melanie got Oko and the two are already in love with other. Oko is currently being trained.

The purpose of the Facebook group is to highlight the condition of glaucoma in dogs and to raise money to help the research into the condition of golden retrievers. Glaucoma and cataracts are the most common complications of the breed.
